P. STAN (Pazhwaak Stan, meaning “voice”) contains a selection of photographs captured in Pakistan (2023) to document the reality of the country and the system dictating it during that period.
Pakistan is positioned at the crossroads of the Middle East and South Asia. Much like many of its neighbours, Pakistan is portrayed in Western media as a red zone. This is due to natural disasters, infrequent terrorist attacks and corruption. This has inevitably shaped the way of life for its nationals.
The risk associated with Pakistan led me to question how that risk plays into daily life. The answer I got gave me insight into a mentality faced in not knowing what the future holds.
These pictures document the people and places that answered that question.
This selection forms part of a wider series documenting the Stan countries.

The fluidity of the book lies with the factors of time and people, from which the photographs created themselves spontaneously - it’s a time capsule filled with people doing ordinary things at the most meaningful of times. It’s an ode to enjoying the now.

An account of the resource
Opencast coal mining has led to the destruction of hundreds of German villages over the last century. Although Germany has promised to phase out coal by 2038, extraction continues and the future of several villages hangs in the balance. Combining Alan Gignoux’s photographs of abandoned houses and Chloe Juno’s images of the personal belongings left behind by departing families, Monuments documents and commemorates communities in North-Rhine Westphalia earmarked for demolition.
The two photographers take different approaches to highlighting the erasure of shared history and collective memory. Gignoux’s images document the destruction of houses, gardens, schools, shops, churches, businesses, roads, the infrastructure of entire communities, while Juno’s photographs show us personal objects that recall individual lives.
Designed by Chloe Juno and Emily Macaulay, the spiral-bound book features Gignoux’s landscape photographs presented as generous spreads with Juno’s objects photographs overlaid as inserts of varying sizes. The book includes archival material, including a found German household goods catalogue and Google images showing the creeping expansion of the surface mines.
Monuments comes with two stickers printed with slogans protesting against the mines and a Christmas card with an image of a Christmas stocking taken by Juno as she was walking around the condemned village of Keyenburg.

An unsettling exploration into how we are situated within our own skin.
"Form & Function" looks at the human condition and our fraught relationship with the human body. Mainstream concepts of body image are challenged through capturing a fluidity of gender and identity, while embracing inclusivity every step of the way.
