Description

Immortal Mushroom takes its name from an Asian medicinal mushroom called lingzhi. In a explorative collaboration, photographers Samuel Bradley and Kat Chan study a remote city in northern China: Shangri-La, the most culturally and biodiverse province in the country. In the images, that are presented along Kat Chan's essays and poems as a way to thread the narrative, the artists show us stunning still life experiments created with vegetables and fruits and create a surreal vision of Shangri-La. We could say this extraordinary book offers a unique angle on a barely known but remarkable place. Bradley and Chan create a medium to explore the history and culture of Shangri-La while also challenging assumptions about Traditional Chinese Medicine.
