Description
The body of work and book dummy consists of 40 images of various frozen liquids, resembling icebergs and given the shape and look of an arctic environment. This book acts as a catalogue and compilation of the images I created during the winter of 2018/19. All images are photographed using daylight only.
When I came up with the idea of creating images that resemble icebergs I immediately had some questions in my mind. Will our climate change drastically over the next few decades if we don‘t change our way of living? Will icebergs still be around when my childrens‘ children are born?
I felt I needed to create images feeding this irritation, taking images of frozen water and other natural materials to recreate the look of icebergs. Photorealistic images in small scale resembling monumental icebergs, creating the illusion of an arctic landscape.
Photography has always been a reference point to reality.
This project is a reminder of the fragility of our eco system, especially when looking at the rapid change happening in the polar regions and the development of the global climate.
Coming from a documantary photography background, the environment, the way it shapes us and vice versa, is the main focus of my work.
