Description
As part of the 2025 Berkofsky Arts Award, Prem Dosanjh has used the awarded grant to produce a project centred around his family history that explores Glaswegian-Punjabi culture. His work looks towards a personal archive of his family history, examining both written and photographic documents and organising this material into a photobook collection of scanned images and film photographs. Prem spent time at his Nani’s house in Glasgow collecting scans of older photographs, documents and objects and taking new photographs of his Nani and mother in the city. Through recontextualising older archive material, he aims to emphasise that histories of migration do not possess a conclusive ‘end’ and instead take new forms in subsequent generations, shaping British culture.
