Description
finding a feeling is a 118-page photobook by Dan Gardner that pairs over 50 black and white photographs and curated collages with handwritten essay notes. Through five short sections, the book explores the intuitive act of making photographs and reflects on the art of observation, the responsibility of documenting life, and what it means to “find a feeling”.
The work is personal, reflective, and intentionally tactile, designed to be experienced as a physical object rather than a purely visual portfolio. The handwritten elements bring the reader into the thinking behind the images, making the book feel closer to an artist’s notebook than a conventional photobook. It invites a quieter, more personal response from the reader, encouraging reflection on their own creative habits and ways of seeing.
